The Pipe Organ Engineering and Technologies Program
 
The P.O.E.T. Program
 
 
The engineering schools at the University of Pennsylvania are now
interested in seeking qualified students with an interest in the pipe
organ..
 
Systems engineering, communications, electrical, mechanical
 
The pipe organ aspect is currently intergrated into the academic
program through the senior research project.
 
The University of Pennsylvania has a 162 rank pipe organ that has one
of the earliest full duplex MIDI interfaces for a pipe organ (1988)
Designed and assembled by students at Penn.
 
Design projects to consider are:
 
Full MIDI console with traditional stop controls
various user configurable relay/switching systems
teaching software program that make use of the MIDI system.
