Pieces de Fantaisie, Op. 54.....................Vierne
  Carillon de Westminster

These students were great!! There was much energy in their
presentation - it was very exciting. Extra mention to John
Burkwall, 18 years old, who started and ended the program
and Scott Hanoian, only 15 years old.

This was at the national shrine of St. Frances Xavier
Cabrini. That's a fancy way of saying the Columbus
Hospital chapel. For a chapel, however, it is quite large
with a glorious acoustic - I'd guesstimate around a 4
to 5 second reverb time - plenty of marble, stone and
plaster :)

I attended the organ dedication by Marilyn Mason last
year. From that program....

About the Organ
---------------
The Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini Chapel is the shrine
honoring Mother Cabrini, who founded Columbus-Cabrini
Medical Center. One of the chapel's most impressive features
is the Tamburini pipe organ, imported from Italy and
specially crafted for the chapel.

This rare instrument is one of only two imported to North
America. A similar organ is located outside the Sistine
Chapel in the Vatican. Restoration of the organ was
completed in January 1991 by the Wicks Pipe Organ
Company, which has custom-built chapel pipe organs
since the late 1800s.
