For those who are passing through the Philadelphia area stop by
and get a listen & tour of our 'acoustical' synthesizer

duplex midi controller....It's a first generation job built in house
about 1988-89.. Voice calls: (215) 898-2848 or 4636 ask for Kevin or
anyone of the 7 Michaels in the group..
What toys do you folks have to play with out there in computerland..
PIPE ORGAN at 127 Db's
The Curtis Organ At Penn was built in 1926 for the Sesquicentennial
Exposition, has 10,793 pipes and was fitted in 1988-89 with a full
MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) Interface. The organ
can produce 127 Db's at 90 feet from the pipe lofts. The lowest
actual pitch it produces is 16HZ from a wooden pipe 37 feet long
and 2.5 feet square. The highest pitch is produced from a pipe
about 1/4 inch long. The whole organ weights about 200,000
pounds..
If you want to tour & hear the organ in person give us a call at
(215) 898-4636. or 898 2848 .during the academic year.
For some of you folks who can't make a personal visit we've some
copies of our professionally performed and produced compact disc.
It's available at Penn's student union classical CD shop. For CD
