Well, since I opened the can of worms a couple of weeks ago
by mentioning the S-word, I guess I should either apologize
for the tangent, or defend it. I think I'll try both.

            1. Sorry. I didn't mean to get this wonderful list off
on a needless diversion into the subject of justifying
                synthesizers.

            2. That said (and meant!), I see more and more hybrids
being set up, both implicitly and explicitly, between
organs and electronics. Both are honorable, and
musically useful. I do *not* understand how there can
be serious discussion of theater organs (gadgets
galore!) on one hand, and censoring of toaster-talk on
                the other.

After waffling (double-thinking?) between those views, I
think I would prefer that we keep discuss electronics
(synths, MIDI, and Allen toasters) freely, but keep it
germain to organs and organ performance. Comparison of MIDI
to couplers seems legit, as does aftertouch versus second-
touch; discussion of FM versus analog versus wave tables is
          probably out of place.

However, if the vote goes anti-synth, I will *still* stay on
the list, as I will still find more joy on PIPORG than
          anywhere else on the net.
