No disagreement on craftsmanship. But Challis enclosed his instruments with (very nice) wood with dovetail-shaped splines that
suggest (to a casual observer) that he did a wooden case with dovetail corners. Warner obviously had a bending shop (Probably New
England Ring and Flange) bend aluminum channel over a form. The result doesn't try to look like something else.
