Dave, I would be very grateful if you would post the announcement below on
the HPSCHD-L and PIPORG-L. It concerns playing opportunities in the Boston
area. I run this ensemble, and would be happy to discuss it with anyone
interested in it.

Hope Ehn <[log in to unmask]>

The Cambridge (MA) Center for Adult Education sponsors a Baroque Music
Ensemble, which meets on Thursday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at
Career Source, 185 Alewife Brook Parkway (across the street from the Fresh
Pond Mall). There is free parking at the site, and it is within walking
distance of the Alewife stop of the "T" Red Line. Rides back to Harvard
Square will be available after each class session.

The Baroque Ensemble, for strings and winds with continuo, rehearses a
group of chamber music pieces for the entire term, and gives a *private*
performance (for *invited* guests only) at the end of each term. This
performance is followed by a party for performers and their guests. The
Winter term, 2001 class will begin on January 17, with the end-of-term
concert planned for March 22 or March 29 (depending on whether sessions
have had to be canceled because of Cambridge Center closings due to bad
weather).

At the time of this posting, this group has vacancies for *advanced*
players of harpsichord (at least one), violin, viola, cello, bass gamba,
recorder (two), flute (one), oboe (two), and bassoon (two). *Approval of
the instructor is required* to register for this group; interested people
should *phone the Cambridge Center* RIGHT AWAY at (617) 547-6789 for the
instructor's telephone number or reply to me by E-mail.

Vacancies in the Baroque Ensemble will be filled in order of contact with
the instructor, by those players who demonstrate sufficient instrumental
technique to play Baroque music in a chamber group. The group pitch is
440.

The Cambridge Center office is open on Fridays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., on
Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9
a.m. to 2 p.m.
