I would strongly suggest getting a copy of Edward L. Kottick's "A
Harpsichord Owner's Guide", which gives an excellent summary of what
to look for and what to avoid in buying a new or used instrument.  Larger
bookstores in the S.F./Berkeley area should carry it, and certainly be able
to order it.
