I wish I could fully elaborate on "voicing according to historical data,"
... Paul Irvin ...

A few links and writers (including very knowledgeable Paul Irvin) have been
mentioned. I have followed them and, surely because I did not look deeply
enough, I have been unable to find there (or anywhere else for that matter)
any HISTORICAL source DIRECTLY discussing plectra voicing matters such as
- the sound effect obtained by cutting the plectrum to different shapes
- the desired loudness balance between different harpsichord stops
- the relationship between voicing and staggering.
Any help on these important matters would be surely be of interest for many
of us.

Thanks
