How about Johann David Heinichen (1683-1729)? According to Slonimsky
(Baker's) H was more of a theorist than a composer. I seem to
remember posting here about six monthe ago something about his
fascinating piece from his figured bass tratise which roves through
all the keys except F# major. This is a fun piece, partly due to its
simplicity; you just pick it up and play it to check out your
temperament!

As to his real abilities as a composer, I guess the question is: Did
the piece you heard wake you up or lull you to sleep?
