There are two Landowska recordings of the Goldberg I know of, one in
1939, the other in the 1950s (1955?).  Both are available on CD
reissues, and that might do for those interested in the sound of the
Pleyel, albeit these are not high tech recordings.
 
I tend to agree with Hubbard on the Pleyels: they made an incredible
variety of sounds, all of them bad.  On one of those Wandowska CDs,
there's a passage on the lute stop that I can't listen to without
going into hysterical laughter--so bad as to be comic.  The wonder is
that Landowska accomplished so much with that instrument.  By the way,
builders in England call Pleyels "whispering giants."  The action is
tough also (piano keyboards).
