Dear members,

In case you’re considering Antwerpen during your holiday: I can recommend (apart from the well known Vleeshuys museum) the “Snijders Rockox” museum. Amongst quite a lot of interesting furniture and paintings, they have a Couchet virginal and a harpsicord from Andreas Ruckers den Ouden” (translates roughly as “Andreas Ruckers the old fart”) on display.

The instruments are not in playable condition but otherwise they seem very well preserved. According to the guide, the price of such instruments equaled the year income of a master craftsman. Nothing much has changed since 😊

I’ve made some photo’s, alas not of very good quality but still. It’s rather dark where the instruments are and flash is not allowed. If you’re interested, send me a mail off list and I’ll mail them to you.

Greetings,

Chris.
