    Anyone read enough of Gaines' book to comment?

    From what I can surmise via Amazon, it looks to be quite 
conjectural, non-academic, and largely based on a supposed "battle" 
between the old ways of Bach and the new of Fred.

    Still, it's intriguing.  If one can stop laughing about the "1757" 
on the back cover...
