I downloaded the pre-release of Igor for Windows. The manual, which is
for MAC only, DOES have to be downloaded separately.

The executable program file is 64MB (Sibelius.exe is 8MB). I looked at the
Purcell SATB vocal example (Thou knowest, Lord). This is 53 bars long on
2.3 pages. Display is slow in comparison with Sibelius. The cursor was a
measure behind the sound when I played the piece back.

I compared this with a Sibelius file of Beethoven's Eroica Symphony, which
I made recently:

App IGOR SIBELIUS

Piece Purcell: Thou Knowest Beethoven: Eroica Symphony

File size 286k 237k

Loading time 40 secs 2.5 secs

Many features of Igor do not work at this point, since it is a beta copy.

At present, unless one is only interested in freeware, Sibelius is streets
ahead.

By the way, the Sibelius manual is not huge, since most of Sibelius's
commands are fairly intuitive and the program is highly memorable.

Disclosure statement: I am an unpaid beta tester of Sibelius. I am writing
this solely to set the record straight.
