In Antwerp cathedral on either side of the choir are two massive Rubens
paintings, they are raised on plinths of red (rouge royal?) marble with
grey marble banding. I don't know if these are contemporary with the
paintings, but it struck me when I visited that they looked remarkably
like a Ruckers case side. Here is a link:

I don't know about iron, but I have never seen an original where the
grey bands seem to imitate marble. They certainly want to give the
impression of being raised above the marble with a dark shadow below the
upper and a highlight on top of the lower. (note that the 1652 has been
extended with an extra keyboard and hence the very right bit and the
vertical frame would stem from the time of the ravalement. It's
interesting to note that the spines keep their original marble (this one
and the 1628 Ioannes at Versailles with very elaborate Claude
Audran-style decoration on the other case sides, probably as proof of
their pedigree)
