And again, it assumes every key will be played on exactly the same spot every
time.  Not going to happen.  I think the discrepancy is greatest among those
Italians built from antique models where the line of sharp balance pins is
(seemingly arbitrarily) only a half inch or so behind the natural line.
 
Other building traditions seem to favor from 3/4" to 7/8", which preserves the
ratio in an approximate sense.
