A couple summers ago I restrung a Zuckerman Flemish single originally built
in 1972, so I think there may be a different stringing schedule.  Steve
Salvatore sent me the schedule and strings in a timely fashion, but he told
me he much prefers to deal with people on the phone rather than via e-mail.
I found him pretty reliable to get me parts and information as needed.

My instrument had the old Zuckerman jacks with the adjustment screw in the
bottom.  Steve *stongly* recommented I convert to the new Zuckerman plastic
jacks that look like pear wood.  I was hesitant to do this because it
involved replacing the lower jack guide which was glued in on my  particular
instrument.  Steve was unable to give me the names of anybody who had done
the Jack conversion and I was able to locate only a guy in Monatana who had
done the conversion on an earlier slab-side model.  His opinion was it wasn't
worth it.

So I used the old jacks, found a set of old Zuckerman jacks for th 4' (which
were never installed in the original) and restrung usuing the schedule Steve
sent me.  I made a schedule on my own from the strings that were originally
on the instrument using micrometer.  The new schedule was slightly different,
perhaps because of the different metal composition of the new strings.  At
any rate the new strings definitely sounded better to my ears.  The string
schedule assumes you are tuning to A= 419 or something like that, but Steve
assured me you can tune to A 440 if you want with no problems.

I did a lot of tweaking around -- added the 4' and buff, stablized the stand
etc. and am really satisfied with the results two years later.
