Does anyone have any thoughts on wrestplank grain orientation? I know the
Flemish cut wrestplanks on the quarter, but was this a matter of effiency in
dimentioning lumber or were they considering strength, stability, and the
relationship of grain oreintation to drilling for tuning pin holes. Is
there a diffrence in how smoothly tuning pins turn in quarter vs flat sawn
wrestplanks.

Any thoughts on diffrent materials used for wrestplanks. Up untill now I
have been using white oak. Any observations on the use of maple, walnut, and
other woods as it relates to strenght and smoothness of tuning pins, would
also be of interest.
