Dear Mimi and David,
you know how I hold both of you in very high esteem for your knowledge and
dedication to music.

Sorry Mimi but in this particular case I side decidedly with David, if not
in the "tone", surely in the message contents.

I often recommend to include one or two baroque pieces in a piano recital,
but on the other side I agree with David that playing the Goldbergs on the
piano is only acceptable as a personal exercise. To do it in recital or
recording is today a monstruosity, a travesty that deprives the masterwork
of a significant part of its contents and message.
