Having really tight stop lever screws is the only way to prevent the dampers from pushing the
register off. That this was the norm is testified to by the fact that Jacob Kirckman used stop-
lever screws with a rectangular top that fitted the tuning wrench! A _most_ convenient way to
tighten them!  I have, on occasion welded extensions to the tops of screws so that I could file
them to fit a tuning hammer. But my welding leaves much to be desired(!) so I gave up the idea.
