Hi, Folks
A piano tech showed up at the shop with a behemoth DeBlais
INVERTED harpsichord
yesterday. To me, it looked obscene and very complicated. He
paid 2,000 for it.
I told him he wasted his money.
Was I wrong?
Is there a "collector's" run on these things? I notice that they
are advertised
for something between 3k and 6k asking price, but so help me, I
wonder if the owners get even 1k for them.
I get a kick out of Ed Kottick's treatment of factory harpsi's in
his book.
However, I really wonder if we MUST fix these things. Besides
taking up valuable space in the shop and making me sick to look
at them, I would think that the lack of replacement parts would
dictate that they be scrapped. Its so expensive to replace jacks
and registers, not to mention you have to WANT to do the job.
Just wondering
Herb
