Sorry I don't have the Leo Sowerby biography at hand to remind me of
the exact names and dates and precise wording, but I've always
enjoyed this anecdote:
When Sowerby was a very young man in Chicago, the famous conductor of
the Chicago Symphony at the time was a friend and supporter of
Sowerby's, often premiering new works ...not always to the best of
reviews. One newspaper critic commented, "We've often heard the three
B's, and last night we heard our own Sower B."
