Hello List!
HELP! I need sheet music for an organ and trumpet duet my wife and I have
downloaded as an mp3 file. It is a stunning arrangement of "Angels We
Have Heard On High". Our search results came up only with the
title "Gloria In Excelsis Deo", with a notation of "Classical - Handel".
No artists were listed, though we suspected Wynton Marsalis on the
trumpet.
The piece begins with the organ accompanying on light foundations, while
the trumpet plays the melody. The second "verse" begins with the organ
playing on a solid plenum with a descending scale pattern; the trumpet
begins to "improvise" around the melody. Then follows a dramatic
registration and key change, with the trumpet blasting a final "hurrah",
ending with what sounds like a very high E-flat, with organ at "full speed
ahead".
If you would like to hear the piece, write us privately, and Millie will
be happy to try to e-mail the file to you.
Any help appreciated! I hope my attempt at a description at least stirs
someone's memory!
Thanks in advance,
David Kenney
