Greetings,
My name is Marcus Arreguin, and I hail from Garland, Tx--just NE of
Dallas. I am 25 and have been a pianist for all of my musical life. More
recently I have gotten into choral singing and playing the organ, the
latter of which I am still a beginner at.
I studied music at Richland College a few years--mainly music theory and
choral arts. One of my experiences was to sing the Durufle Requiem at
the Morton H. Myerson Hall with the Lay Family Organ providing the winds
for our orchestra.
So far my interest in the organ is playing accompaniments for choirs and
polyphonic music. I play at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in N.
Richland Hills.
As a pianist, my question is about organ technique as opposed to piano
technique. I know a bit about finger substitutions that organists use
and some of the tricks they use to bring out the soprano line. My
question is about upper and lower arm action and wrist rotation--to what
extent are these used?
Marcus
