Do I recall correctly that Richard has an alternate stopknob for the 32'
Kontra
Posaune which
reads, "32' Harley Davidson," a nod to the former pastor who was a Harley
fanatic? Perhaps
some collector of arcana out there will come up with a website dedicated to
"vanity stop names,"
such as the "Fl^ute de Julie" on one Idaho organ or the "Cloches de Hinckley"
on one of the organs
here on Temple Square.
Coincidentally, I just came across an article about Richard in the September
1972 issue of Music: the
A.G.O./R.C.C.O. magazine titled, "It's Different on Television." From our
current perspective it's a
quaint view of the pre-Crystal Cathedral days of "Hour of Power." And, in the
trivia department, it
mentions that Richard spells his last name "Unfreid," while the organs which
he
built carry the nameplate,
"Unfried-Borror," helping to propagate the confusion over the correct form of
his surname.
