I played one of my Yale degree recitals on a Casavant tracker of the
sort that you so rightly decry. (It was at the Choate School and, I
believe, has already been replaced.) It was truly awful, and in just the
ways you cite.

Ironically, I was doing it there to avoid having to play the Battell
Chapel Holtkamp, which I so much detested -- even though it has historic
importance in this country and is delectated by many (Hi, Malcolm!).
Maybe I would like it now.
