HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY to Felix Hell!

Felix Hell’s accomplishments have been well documented on this list. It is
probably true that no young organist in recent history has come close to his
accomplishments. Indeed, Felix has been, and continues to be, a fantastic
ambassador for the organ. Literally thousands of people every year have been
exposed to their first experience hearing a virtuoso organist. It is highly
likely that Felix has also provided inspiration for many of today’s young,
talented, and up-coming organists. The organ world is indeed a brighter and
better community because of Felix.

Knowing Felix since age 14 and watching him develop and progress has been a
true blessing and enjoyment. Personally, it has been an education in itself
for me.

I know that the many friends and admirers of Felix will join me in wishing
him a happy birthday, especially on this most significant of birthdays in
one’s lifetime. I’m sure that many will join me in thanking Felix for his
contributions and in wishing him continued success in his career and in
continuing the wonderful work he has done for the organ world.

Later this month Felix returns to Peabody to complete his Masters of Music
degree and the Artist’s Diploma Program. In this coming season, Felix will
have a full concert series and will play the complete organ works of J.S.
Bach three times.

No congratulations would be complete without recognizing the contributions
of Felix’s many teachers and especially his father Hans.
