Friends (and future friends),

Recent discussion on this august List has suggested the need for a calibration
device for organists' accomplishments, to avoid ad hoc, purely subjective
assessments. Here it is:

1 A non-organist: someone who hasn't heard of Max Reger
2 A poor organist: someone who can't play Max Reger but
would like to
3 A good organist: someone who can play Max Reger on a good
day
4 A good-to-excellent organist: someone who can play all of Max Reger
any day
5 An excellent organist: someone who can play Max Reger but won't

- Brian (once 3, striving to be 4, sliding back to 2)

PS Note for those with the bypass - this is not entirely serious.
PPS Serious note - whatever happened to Max Reger - e.g. hands up those of you
who
    played him last Sunday morning.
