An English translation of Karl Bormann's book Heimorgelbau
is to be discussed by the Publications Board of the Organ Historical
Society meeting in mid-July. (After a very long wait). While I don't
know the terms of reference for the meeting I guess that they will be
thinking of the quality of the translation and if they think that
yours truely's efforts are all a load of old cods, in spite of the
strenuous efforts of Paul Croome to correct my errant ways, then
there might not be much one can do. They are likely to consider also
the economic implications of publishing the translation & to assist
them, perhaps you could contact people whom you know in the OHS to
say whether you would be interested in the book or not.
I should add that the book includes translations of parts of the
Bruder book (rather necessary), also OOP, but often essential to
complete Bormann's writings.
If OHS get a zero response, then they will know something about the
likely financial risk, OTOH if everyone of the 1243 recipients send
in an open cheque (check) with the request that they fill in the
amount & post the volume as soon as it's off the press, then they
will have an even better idea of their financial risk.
If someone want to cross post this to DIYAPASON or whatever it's
called, I would be grateful.
The selected list (ORGUE ?) is probably made up of people who read
and speak German fluently & therefore would not need such a book.
However, that should not stop them from joining in, even if they want
the book delivered in a plain wrapper.
I have refrained from mentioning my contact with OHS as I don't want
a campaign here. Just a simple "Let's know 'cause I want to buy a
copy". All up front, no BS.
