The text, "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind," is excerpted from a larger
poem by John Greenleaf Whittier (1807-92).
 
Since you refer to the melody as "Anglican," is is porbably the tune
"REPTON."   If I am right, I agree with you whole=heartedly.  Repton, by
C.H.H. Parry (1848-1918) is a truly beautiful, soaring melody.
 
When I lived in Yorkshire, my congregation sang it with great grace.
 
I believe there may be a record by Kings College Cambridge (something
like "Great Hymn Tunes," or perhaps in the BBC's "Songs of Praise"
collections.
