My feeling is that when saying something publicly, which is going to
heard and possibly quoted then attributed to me, I don't want to have
false impressions flying around. Unless something is really good (in
my perception) then I'm not going to say/print otherwise. This may be
the reviewer's feeling. I didn't hear the Rodgers in Denver, nor have
I ever heard a substitute machine which pleased my ears for any length
of time. I just have "bitchy" ears, I guess.

I believe that it is extremely important to use musical instrument
appropriately. Using harpsichords in a very lare and questionably
acoustic space (and I was not there so I don't know what the space was)
is like having bagpipes in a living room -- just not the right venue and
most likely will not be satisfactory.
Is it possible the other instruments were too loud for the harpsichord.
Again, IMHO this does not give justification for either micing or
otherwise artificially reproducing the sound of the harpsichord. If it
is not appropriate, it is best not to do it!
