Dear List Members,


This Tuesday, Samuel Libra will be making his Saint Louis Church debut to play the Tuesday organ recital.  He is a doctoral student of Dr. Carol Terry at the University of Washington in Seattle, and the Director of Music at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Kirkland, Washington.  Prior to that, he was the Assistant Organist at Saint James Cathedral in Seattle.

His program and biography are below, as well as a listing of the remaining recitals in the season.

Recitals begin at 12:35 pm, directly after the 12:10 pm Mass, and the public is most welcome. There is no charge. 

Directions to the church may be found on the church website, as well as information about the organ: <http://stlouiskingoffrance.org>. The Church is located at the Tenth Street Station on the Green Line.

BIOGRAPHY

Samuel Libra is a doctoral student in organ performance at the University of Washington in Seattle as a student of Carole Terry, and a graduate of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, where he studied with Gregory Peterson.. His research focuses on keyboard music of 19th-century France and Belgium. In 2016, he had the opportunity to travel to France for a summer course of study with Jean-Baptiste Robin at the Royaumont Foundation.
In addition to his studies, Samuel has given performances at a number of churches throughout the Puget Sound region. He also frequently enjoys collaborative performances, frequently playing with the University of Washington Baroque Ensemble, and with a variety of Pacific Northwest ensembles, including The Seattle Bach Choir, the Sammamish Symphony, and the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra. 
A dedicated church musician, Samuel is Organist and Director of Music at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Kirkland, WA. Before that, he was Assistant Organist at St. James Cathedral in Seattle, where he played for weekly liturgies and administered the concert series there.
