The NY Times had a story about Trinity (I am on a boat, and the New Yorkwer piles up at home). This one was about tower bells.

The church had installed a new swinging peal of 12 bells (National Cathedral only has 10) and removed the automatic dinging machine for the existing bells to make room for change ringers.

The new bells range from 550 to 2700 lbs IIRC, and have a steel tower structure to hold them up. The old bells are still there.

So we will have change-ringing in lower Manhattan, in the home of the world's most elaborate AFKAT. I hope they appreciate the irony.

So as not to upset the neighbors, they have shutters to close off the tower.

I don't know whether to laugh or to cry.
