As a 16 year old high school senior, I was first chair violist in the NJ
Allstate orchestra. That was 1959. We played for the teacher's
convention in Convention Hall. I well remember looking through the glass
windows of the locked console doors, mesmerized actually being at the
instrument. The Robert Elmore 1956 monophonic Mercury recording was
worn out within 6 months, and did not mention that only one chamber was
functional after the 1946 flooding.

Fast forward by 54 years from '59. I really hope I live long enough to
hear the organ in all of its original glory. Really, I wish I were
endowed with sufficient resources to be philanthropic and get the
restoration underway myself.
