Hello List!

This is only a short notice about Heinz Wunderlich, student fo Karl
Straube and still one of the best and most famous organists in Germany.
Yesterday, 85-year old Heinz Wunderlich played a recital in St.
Michaelis - Church, Hamburg at the famous Steinmeyer-Organ (1961, V/85
stops). I wasn't there myself but a friend who lived in Hamburg told me
some of his impressions.

Wunderlich played two of his own works and tow large works by Reger:
- Fantasy and fugue on BACH op. 46 and
- Introduction, Passacaglia and Fugue e-minor op. 127.

Wunderlich played the Reger pieces very very exciting, he demonstrated
the organ with its wonderfull sound colours and he played absolutely
faultless (except a singls fluff, but hey, this man is 85 years old!).
Shortly, it must have been one of the best concerts in Hamburg (and
Germany) this year...

A short remark about the tempi: For op. 127, Wunderlich even surpassed
his timing on his wunderfull new recording at Berlin Cathedral (~27
min) *g*

Regards
Karsten
