Dear List Members,

This Tuesday, we welcome an alumnus of the University of Minnesota School of Music, Phillip Radtke, and two current students, Emma Todd and Adrian Volovets, to play the Tuesday organ recital. Adrian Volovets is also a student of Tom Ferry, who has also appeared on our series.

Their program and biographies are below.

Recitals begin at 12:35 pm, directly after the 12:10 pm Mass, and the public is most welcome. There is no charge.

BIOGRAPHIES

Ever since a young age, Phillip Radtke, native of St. Paul, Minnesota, has had a fascination for the organ. He started organ lessons in 2006 and 2009 began work as assistant organist at St. Stephanus Lutheran Church in St. Paul. In 2010 Phillip began his undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota studying under organ professor Dean Billmeyer. In his senior year he earned second place in the 2014 TCAGO Student Competition held in St. Paul, Minnesota. In the spring of 2016 Phillip earned his Master of Music degree in Church Music from the University of Michigan where he studied with both James Kibbie and Kola Owolabi, In the spring of 2015 Phillip earned first place in the first ever University of Michigan organ accompaniment competition. While in Michigan he served as assistant director of music at West Side United Methodist church. He currently works as Assistant to the Executive and Artistic Director of the Minnesota Boychoir as well as Organist at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church in South Minneapolis.

Adrian Volovets is a multi-instrumentalist who plays flute, soprano/tenor saxophone, violin, cello, piano, harpsichord and organ. He is working towards an Organ Performance and Conducting major at the University of Minnesota. His biggest influence is the legendary conductor, organist, and harpsichordist Karl Richter. Adrian is proud to be a part of the Saxon German Romantic tradition of playing the works of Bach.

Emma Todd is a third-year music minor at the University of Minnesota studying with Dr. Dean Billmeyer. Emma has played piano since she was 5 years old and began studying organ in 2013 with U of M alumnus Dr. Brent Nolte. Emma is a special education major and hopes to continue her love of music throughout her life.
