A very dear friend of mine is organist and singer Carolyn
Kimble-Singleton. Carolyn is very active in the South Los
Angeles area playing for several churches, singing in a
number of choirs and choral groups (including one that I
direct, the Greater Los Angeles Interdenominational Chorus),
and has been a very active lifetime member of the National
Association of Negro Musicians.

Carolyn's family has had an incomprehensible tragedy befall
them --- her dear son Geoffrey was very severely burned with
lighter fluid when trying to light his barbecue. Some of the
fluid had splashed onto his shirt and he did not realize it.
When he lit the barbecue, his entire torso burst into
flames. He was 3rd-degree burned over 50% of his body. His
wife, Trenise, was also badly burned when trying to save
him. They have two small children who were sleeping at the
time and were not injured.

He was rushed to the hospital Wednesday evening, but died
Thursday due to kidney and lung failure. Hard a loss as this
is for his family to bear, it probably was the most merciful
thing all things considered.

Carolyn has asked for prayers for her and her family.
Understandably, they are all taking this very hard even
though they are a family of fervent faith. I am sure she
would appreciate messages of condolence so I am including
