Regarding the Prelude to the Royal Wedding, the "one" across The Pond:
Amid all the name dropping, hat and dress calling out being done on CBS (if not also ABC and all the others) at the time of the Prelude to the Royal Wedding Ceremony (Anglican Mass), we were given a momentary glimpse of an instrumental ensemble (a.k.a., Orchestra) playing their hearts out in a "side room" of this Chapel. Not even so much as a mere mention of their music, let alone "what" they're playing.
I'm a fan of Gayle, but when she came "on the scene" it has seemed that everything she has said has been grossly uninformed. Yes, she was the very one who asked "what does it mean that the pews (in the Choir) are turned facing in toward the center aisle?" Embarrassing!
That does raise a good question, however. Are there churches or Cathedrals in the USA fashioned
in such a manner? Well, of course, Washington National Cathedral's "Choir" pews are, of necessity,
turned facing the central aisle for those times when the "house singing choir" is large enough as it was in earlier times at WNCathedral to need enough space to need pews on both sides of the central aisle for said singers. What about Grace Cathedral, San Francisco? I have been there, but 40 years ago, so
I do not readily recall.
