to respond to Ken List:
The definition of an Oratory is: a place of PRAYER. (See: Merriam-Webster
Dictionary, Unabridged, Third Edition. --- You'll also find my name in same,
Ken List: I worked on it: way back c. 1960.)
The Oratory in Montreal is also a SHRINE --- to the memory of the Blessed
Frere Andre (the next step: Sainthood, in the Catholic Church).
It is most definitely a CHURCH: Mass is celebrated there several times every
day. And the Grand Mass occurs on Sunday in the main Basilica --- one of the
largest religious edifices in the world. Too bad Ken List is so unfamiliar
with its incomparable Beckerath organ: just about every other organist in
North America has, at least, heard of it.
