Dear List

At the church where I play,
I've always maintained an
open policy for anyone wishing
to use the organ for practice.
No it is not pipe, it is a
now venerable old digi that
has twice been struck by
lightening and still works well.

(I guess when I get hit by
lightening I'll quit working)

Anyway in my efforts at selling
organs I always suggest that
the churches and the organist
keep an open console arrangement
for practice (Obviously within
practical limits). In only one
church, the organist doesn't
want anyone to practice on the
instrument. Mind you the
organist teaches piano to
outside students in the same
building. That church has
combined with another
congregation of a different
denomination. S(he) is not
their organist which must
really infuriate him/her.

I guess it is imperative that
we who sell, make an effort to
have our customer churches
understand that playing the
organ, as a practice instrument,
is good for it. Might even
provide them with a ready
substitute, or even another
family joining the congregation.

Brian
