Bach's music requires quick speech.? Nuff said.

However ... if all the churches that had electronic ghastly devices had, instead, French harmoniums, I would be very happy.? And how delightful Vierne's 24 pieces sound on an authentic French harmonium (well, most of them.? Not the Postlude.)

Subject: Bach and the reed organ

I found this on the net.=20
The harmonium was invented in Paris in 1842 by Alexandre Debain, though =
there was concurrent development of similar instruments. Christian =
Gottlieb Kratzenstein(1723-1795), Professor of Physiology at Copenhagen, =
was credited with the first free reed to be made in the western world =
after winning the annual prize in 1780 from the Imperial Academy of =
St.Petersburg.

Kratzenstein was 27 when Bach died. The extract says he invented the =
free reed but it says nothing of him applying iti to a reed organ. His =
winning of the prize was well after the death of Bach.On the other hand =
I know some pipe organs had free reed stops but when they were first =
used I can't find any record..=20
It would seem unlikely that Bach ever saw a reed organ never mind wrote =
for it.
