An interesting aside about the Covenant Aeolian-Skinner is that it originally
had a G.D.H. namplate on the console. At somepoint, it disappeared. Bob
Turner had a replica nameplate made for the new console. On the new console,
there is the Aeolian Skinner nameplate, the G. D. H. nameplate, and the
Mid-Atlantic Organ Company nameplate, since they are carrying out the restoration of
the instrument. The new console is gorgeous and is the second 5 manual console
in Charlotte. The console will play the main organ up front, the Schlicker in
back, and the echo division that Dick Peek had built from parts he bought.
Included in the Echo is an Aeolian-Skinner trumpet rank that was originally in
Kennedy Center, Washington, DC, that was replaced in Irv Lawless' rebuild of
that Skinner a few years back.
