While it's relatively difficult for an individual who is both ignorant
enough not to have a use for things like couplers and pistons, and courteous
enough not to fool with things he/she doesn't understand, to damage an organ
simply by playing it, the real danger comes from those who know enough to
make assumptions, yet know little enough to make wrong ones.
For example, if your combination action is a "hold-set," then providing
instructions may save visitors from wasting time hunting for a "setter"
piston. On the other hand if it's the sort that can be damaged by treating
it as a "hold-set," providing instructions can be crucial, as it will likely
prevent some costly mistakes.
