I understand that Flentrop underestimated the scale which would be needed
- the large windows in the church absorb much bass - and wished he had
used larger. I also have been told that the mouths are only 2/9. But
one source related that the effect in the nave was fine, but wasn't
apparent in the organ gallery, so roller beards were added, which
coarsened the tone considerably. Paul Fritts' restoration has the roller
beards gone, and the stop sounds excellent now.
