I designed a direct electric action organ recently where the string and
celeste were next to one another on the chest. Since the organ is tuned from
the back and I had no other place for the celeste, the ranks ended up next to
each other. To solve the tuning problem, I turned the celeste around so that
its C#1 was on the C side of the chest and C was on the C# side of the chest.
It tuned just fine. Of course, one can't do this with other actions and I
still prefer to follow E.M.'s approach to locating the celeste a city block
or two away from the parent rank, but it is seems to be a good solution for
d.e. when the ranks are next to each other.
