Elgar was born 150 years ago, and I just finished going through what I own
of his organ music (most of which is transcribed) to look for pieces I
should play during the remainder of this year.
I love the first movement of his Sonata and think it's the best of the lot.
Would any of you play this for a prelude? I scheduled it once as an opening
voluntary but have otherwise reserved it for recital use.
Is there an inexpensive publication of the "Chanson de Matin"? That's the
only thing I don't own that I think I may want to play.
Other works that I may plan on are the Imperial March, a Gavotte, Op. 10,
No.3, and perhaps something from Op. 87a.
Any other suggestions, favorites, etc.?
Thanks,
Bob Lind
