I think Elgar's _Vesper Voluntaries_ transcend vespers and evensong. Andrew Henderson recently
played several
of them in recital here in his hometown of Thorold, Ontario. The minister of my church liked them
so much he bought a copy
with the suggestion that I might play them! And so I have. They are indeed very nice, and there
have been a few parishioners who have said how much they enjoyed them.
