>From some of the responses I've received so far, it appears I wasn't
clear enough about what I want. I want a piece of software that
contains the following:
1. The complete BCP and RCL lectionaries. (Perhaps this needs to be
updated each year?)
2. The indexes from the 1982 Hymnal, and possibly other hymnals as
well. In particular, the hymn numbers, first lines, tune names, # of
verses, meters, and suggested tempi.
I want the software to keep track of what hymns I've used on what
dates. I want it to be able to tell it what hymns I prefer, and
which ones I can't stand. I want it to be able to tell it what hymns
(in *my* opinion) make good processionals, recessionals, or communion
hymns. I want to be able to tell it which hymnal(s) my church has
available. I want to be able to add individual hymns from other
sources.
Then, I want to be able to say (for example):
Suggest the hymns for the next three months, appropriate to whichever
lectionary we're using. Don't bother suggesting hymns I can't stand.
Don't use the same hymn within 6 weeks, and don't use the same tune
within 3 weeks. The processional needs to last at least 2 minutes,
and the recessional 1-1/2 minutes. The gradual hymn must have at
least 2 verses.
The software would then give me, for each Sunday, a short prioritized
list of suggested hymns for each place in the service.
