>1993 New Console and Cornopean Stop by Schlicker Organ Co.
I hope Larry won't mind me expanding on the
description of this organ, built for the church
that the Schuelke family attended.
The organ was electrified in 1927 by Wangerin.
The organ had previously been re-actioned with
tubular action when the loft was enlarged.
Wangerin also removed four ranks of pipes from
the organ because of problems with the ventil
chests. The also added a unit chest to the swell,
playing the old Gedeckt, placing a celeste on the
blank toeboard, and replaced a reed stop with a
Vox Humana. Even then, there was no Wangerin
builders plate on the new console, just a
Schuelke plate.
In the 60's or 70's a number of ranks of period
pipes were added, to fill in blank spaces on the
windchests (the problems were repaired, of
course).These ranks were from contemporaneous
pipework, some of it by the Marshall Brothers,
another Milwaukee organ builder.
I'm glad to know of the concert and look forward
to attending (and the master class, if I can
manage it). It's a wonderful organ in a wonderful
room.
