Dear Courtney, dear list,
The company I'm working at (for the magazine ORGEL
INTERNATIONAL) also produces CDs. Recently, a new one was
issued with the organ version of Durufle's Requiem on it.
It's a fine recording with the Warsaw Chamber Choir and the
Swiss-Polish organist Barbara Dziewierz-Meldau at the organ
of the Church "Enge" in Zurich. The choir is marvellous, as
is the playing. The notes are in English, German, and
French, and include information about the work, composer,
other versions, the artists (of course) and the instrument
(the inclusion of information about the latter isn't common
practice with this kind of music). Along with the Requiem,
there are the four Motets and the organ Suite. The number is
ARS MUSICI AM 1256-2. Sorry for the ad, but I really like
this recording. Personally.
Greetings,
Friedrich.
