General Rule - Open.
That way all the pipework is at the same temperature. I am sure you will
find someone who wants them closed to keep out the dust or something like
that. You will find that most other types of action all default to the open
state when power/air is removed.
Exception - Organs where all the pipework is enclosed. In these cases the
chambers were sometimes heated independently from their surroundings.
Let me ask a question on a different line. During the sermon do you switch
off the blower?
